Ways to get ongoing GRC capacity
Security governance work continues all year: policies, risk decisions, reviews, evidence, vendor assessments, questionnaires, and audits. A company can cover it with software, staff, a consultant, a managed provider, or a combination. The choice depends on the volume of recurring work, technical complexity, internal capacity, and what already exists.
-
Compliance platform
- What it covers
- Integrations, monitoring, control libraries, reminders, and evidence collection
- What the company still needs to arrange
- Control ownership, judgment about gaps, policy approvals, exception decisions, and follow-through
-
Readiness consultant
- What it covers
- A review of current practices, findings, and often a roadmap or defined implementation work
- What the company still needs to arrange
- Ongoing work after the project ends unless separately contracted
-
vCISO or broader security consultancy
- What it covers
- Security leadership, strategy, governance, and potentially specialist security services
- What the company still needs to arrange
- The precise recurring GRC workload must be included in the engagement
-
Internal GRC employee
- What it covers
- Dedicated attention and knowledge of company systems and people
- What the company still needs to arrange
- Recruiting, training, management, and coverage for specialist work
-
Audit firm's permitted advisory work
- What it covers
- Advice within the firm's independence and professional requirements
- What the company still needs to arrange
- Separate operational ownership and any services the firm cannot perform while remaining independent
-
GetComply Managed GRC
- What it covers
- An ongoing GRC function run by a named advisor: building or taking over the program, recurring reviews, evidence, vendor and customer assurance, and audit coordination
- What the company still needs to arrange
- System information, technical implementation, management approvals, and any independent examination
If you already use compliance software
Platforms can collect evidence from connected systems and alert people when a check fails. They cannot approve company risk, determine whether a policy matches actual practice, or carry out every follow-up. GetComply can coordinate and review the related work within the scope of an engagement without requiring a platform replacement.
If you need a one-time review
A readiness assessment is appropriate when leadership needs to understand the current program and budget for work before deciding who will implement it. GetComply offers a standalone assessment for that purpose. If the company needs ongoing implementation coordination, risk work, reviews, and evidence operations, a defined assessment by itself is not the same scope as Launch Readiness or Managed GRC.
If you are considering an internal hire
An employee can manage daily context and work directly with the company's teams. That can be the right decision when the workload is sufficient and management wants an internal function. A managed provider may be useful before that role exists, or for a defined portion of the work alongside internal staff.
If you are selecting a CPA firm
The CPA firm's responsibility is the independent examination. Before engaging a firm for both examination and other services, confirm which work is permitted under applicable independence rules. GetComply is a separate GRC service provider and does not issue SOC 2 opinions.
